CONSTITUTION COMMITTEE

MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 8, 2000 MEETING

PRESENT: Ellie Bewley, Joanne Fortunato, T. Mark Johnson, Don McKenzie, Dale Murray, Ken Yglesias, Jim Kossler

I REVIEW OF PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL CHANGES

11.4.8.1 (Murray/Yglesias) Committee agrees with proposed deletion.

10.6.2.D (McKenzie/Johnson) Committee agrees with addition of proposed line to the existing paragraph.

10.6.2.I (McKenzie/Johnson) Committee agrees with adding proposed new section.

12.1.5.2 (Bewley / Murray) Committee agrees with clarifying changes.

10.7.3 (Bewley / Murray) Committee agrees with proposed deletion only if in the same action Section 10.8.2 is also deleted in order to avoid conflicting language.

10.8.2 (Bewley / Murray) See above.

10.6.2.B (Bewley / Yglesias) Committee agrees with the original proposal to replace the current language with the following language: The conference commissioner shall write a letter of notification to the college and forward it to the college president.

4.5.2.C3 (Bewley / Johnson) Committee recommends 1) deleting the current C3 and adding a new section E which reads: E. Two (2) CCCSCA (Coaches), one (1) representing mens sports and one(1) representing womens sports.

4.7.1.4 (McKenzie / Bewley) Committees agrees with adding the proposed sentence to the existing section.

9.1.3 (Yglesias / Johnson) Committee agrees with adding the proposed new paragraph 3.

II PLACE OF THE CONSTITUTION COMMITTEE IN THE COMMISSION PROCESSES

Joanne Fortunato pointed out that there is new language in 4.8.2 of the existing Constitution which defines the role of the committee. The committee recommended that 3.3.2 of the Constitution be revised to read, "The State Commissioner, after consultation with the Constitution Committee regarding form, format, and placement within the Constitution, will forward the request to the appropriate committee for review." Joanne will prepare a Form 5.

III NEW CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS FORMAT

Committee members received copies of a proposed new format for the Constitution and Bylaws. The committee will take action on the proposal at the next meeting.
