Cerritos Starts the Day with a Blowout Eliminating
Siskiyous

Chino Hills, Calif. – Cerritos ended their day yesterday with a shutout loss.
The Falcons came out determined not to suffer the same ending producing a nine run
first inning and finishing with a blowout five inning win 12-1 over Siskiyous eliminating
the Eagles. Cerritos freshman pitcher Jessica Navarro produced from the batter’s
box and the circle with 5 RBI while allowing just five hits and one run from Siskiyous.
Cerritos ran away with it in the first. Freshman shortstop Jenel Guadagno led
the game off with a single to left followed by a fielder’s choice that failed to
throw Guadagno out. Navarro produced her first RBI of the game with a single scoring
Guadadgno. Freshman second baseman Vanezza Martin Del Campo came up with the next
single for two RBI. Freshman first baseman Stephanie Lomeli produced the fourth
single of the inning to left. A walk later and the bases were loaded. Freshman third
baseman Katie Colln came up with an RBI single keeping the bases loaded. Freshman
left fielder Cecily Garcia took four balls for an RBI walk and center fielder Amber
Cardona hit into an RBI fielder’s choice. Navarro was up again and picked up two
more RBI for three in the inning with a single. Del Campo produced Cerritos’s seventh
single of the inning with a shot to right center scoring the Falcon’s ninth and
final run of the inning.
Siskiyous could not match the Falcon’s production as Navarro shut them down through
four innings. Cerritos added another in the second with an unearned run scored by
freshman designated player Charlee Cox. Cerritos put up their last two in the fifth
starting with a double down the left field line from freshman outfielder Amber Cardona
then a single from freshman catcher Nadine Garcia. Navarro took advantage for her
fourth and fifth RBI with a double down the left field line for the Falcons’ eleventh
and twelfth runs.
Siskiyous broke the shutout in the fifth. Sophomore first baseman Jenny Austin
walked and then reached second after a fielder’s choice. Sophomore center fielder
Kimberly Connely produced Siskiyous’s lone RBI with a single to left scoring Austin
and breaking the shutout. Navarro earned the win improving to 31-6 on the season.
Palacio suffered the loss for Siskiyous finishing at 27-4.
Siskiyous finishes their season with a 48-4 record. Cerritos improves to 36-10-1
and move on to face Sacramento City in a rematch of the first round game. Cerritos
defeated the Panthers in the first round 2-0 on two unearned runs. The two will
meet up again at 5:00 pm today for the right to move on.
